I wanted to really like Don Julio. It just didn't do it for me. It was still really good, just not as great as others feel it is. I would like to give it another shot and see if it can change my mind.

Although I enjoy cognac and scotch,my second choice will always be tequila.
I had try a nice quantity of them while traveling down south Mexico.
By far there are some fancy/inflated tequilas, but when it comes to blanco Tequila,Don Julio Blanco will be my pick.
I used to drink El Agavero Blanco artesanal tequila. At $60.00 bucks a bottle was a deal due to the great flavor of the former. Sadly i haven't be able to find it any more.
Anyways. A caballito (shot glass) and a slice of lemon will pare very well with the Don Julio.

Perfectly clear with moderate viscosity - nose suggests pineapple and dates, although the fragrances are very subtle. Entry is sweet and floral, with messages of agave and lime. Agave expands only slightly in the body, and fade is rapid with mild bitterness and a pleasant alcohol tingle.
Flavour line is clean and fresh, but nothing exceptional. It is an adequate high-production product, but as a sipper it lacks the definition, depth and character of many of its artesanal competitors.

Don Julio Blanco - NOM 1449 - Tasted 2/16/07. The tequila is clear in color with intense earthy and smokey aromas followed by moderate-to-intense aromas of floral, spice, and chocolate. A soft mellow entry leads to a low sweet taste, with low-to-moderate bitterness and moderate-to-heavy agave taste. While there is only moderate agave flavor, the tequila has intense earthy and floral. The tequila finishes with a short duration of flavor and a tingly alcohol finish. Overall, I gave the tequila a "B."
