Los Azulejos Tequila Anejo - Masterpiece Collection

Los Azulejos Tequila Anejo - Masterpiece Collection is 100% Agave and aged in oak barrels for close to three years.

Azulejos are the hand-painted tiles that have been used for centuries in Mexico to decorate the most expensive homes and haciendas. Azulejos cover patios, benches, walls, fountains, bathrooms, and kitchens in Mexico and are a big part of the culture, heritage and architecture.

The Masterpiece Collection began as a limited edition collectors series for fall 2009. The first collection features 6 different paintings on the bottle, which are inspired by Pablo Picasso's work. Picasso is arguably the most recognizable painter of the 20th century.

Each bottle has the same design and painting on both sides and are hand-painted by Mexican artisans in Puebla, Mexico, home of Talavera Pottery.

Bought at Costco $60, 11/09/10, the bottle caught my eye... odd but interesting to say the least. I checked out the case they had and all the bottles appeared different. Medium straw in color, runs down the glass quick but does not gather on the sides right away. Nose is floral and sweet agave. Thin mouth feel almost watery. Entry is smooth has some pepper and mild heat on the way down, leaves an oak/bitter after taste on the roof of the mouth. Overall the tequila is a 89 the bottle is a 95.

This is the best tequila in my collection. I picked it up in Cozumel for $60 just because I liked the look of the bottle.

It's a great tequila from a pleasant start to a finish that goes on and on. I usually prefer reposados because I find anejos too smooth but this one comes on strong but never too harsh. The only other tequilas that I have that come close are twice the price.
