Técnico Tequila Reposado

Elaborated from the sought-after Blue Agaves grown in the Los Altos region, Técnico Reposado is a formidable opponent for any competitor. Técnico Reposado Tequila is aged in charred, American white oak barrels for a minimum of 4 months.

Tequila Técnico is a worthy member of our team of champions or parejas increibles (incredible pair). Produced from 100% Blue Agave in the Highlands of Jalisco, it honors the very spirit of Técnico's character - noble, refined and elegant in style. This carefully elaborated tequila offers unparalleled smoothness and depth of flavor, which will satisfy even the most sophisticated palate. The Tequila is aged in white oak bourbon barrels until alcohol mellows and the flavors of the Blue Agave are perfectly married to the subtle toasted notes from the wood.

In Lucha Libre, there are two paths for a wrestler to take: the technicians (or técnicos) or the rude ones (or rudos). Technicians are the “good guys,” the noble and heroic Luchadores that strive to uphold honor and integrity in the face of overwhelming opposition. Tecnico's wrestling style is more formal and elaborate than Rudo's. They expertly execute characteristic high flying attacks by using the wrestling ring's ropes to catapult themselves towards their opponents, using intricate combinations in rapid-fire succession, and applying complex submission holds. For their skills and nobility, técnicos are rewarded with the affection of the public, with cheers, requests for autographs, and general adulation.

About 6 months ago, I fell in love with the Técnico Añejo. While I generally don't gravitate toward the dessert tequilas, that one just seemed to hit the sweet spot. Along with its sister brand Arrogante, NOM 1467 is producing some really good tequilas at some really nice prices. My expectations are high, let's see if this lucha libre inspired bottle can live up to them.

Price: $30/bottle

Aroma: A nice nose of agave, light baking spice and a hint of vanilla. It's off to a good start.

Initial Taste: Sweet cooked agave and vanilla are the biggest flavors.

Body: The oak/barrel flavors creep in a bit more. There's a richer vanilla creme brulee type flavor and a hint of bitterness from the oak that gives a bit of dark chocolate and hazelnuts.

Finish: The nuts and dark chocolate seems to linger on forever with just a hint of spice to go along with it. There's still a bit of sweetness to compliment, but the flavors from the wood are the most forward.

Técnico Reposado lived up to the billing and again provided a great profile for a great price. The bottle is a winner too with great artwork and a cool luchador stopper. Don't hesitate to go out and buy anything from this brand...or anything from NOM 1467 as well.
