Cava Don Anastacio produced a stellar blanco juice. It goes without saying that I am very much looking forward to diving in and tasting what they do with it in the barrel. This tequila is produced in the Quiote distillery (NOM 1433) that produces a good number of value-type brands including Puerto Vallarta and of course, Quiote.

Price: $45-50/bottle
Aroma: Nice vegetal agave balanced with light vanilla and spice.
Initial Taste: Cooked agave, vanilla and a hint of vegetal notes.
Body: Medium bodied, semi-oily. Agave and vanilla in a nice balance balance.
Finish: A fairly short finish with a bit of oak, agave and vanilla. I felt like the finish was lacking a little "oomph" and spice notes that are found in most aged tequilas.

Cava Don Anastacio was a solid tequila, but didn't live up to my expectations from the blanco. The price point is getting up there in the $50 range and that's a tough spot to be if you don't have a specific flavor that separates you from the very crowded marketplace. The bottle looks great and it's a very smooth tequila, but it just left me wanting a little more out of it.
