Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco

Tequila 7 Leguas Blanco - Brilliant, luminous silvery hues, a powerful body. Enjoy the nuances of perfect distillation, leaving a trail of subtle aromas which build up to the final enjoyment of slowly-cooked agave.

One of the oldest distilleries in Mexico, Casa Siete Leguas has more than fifty years of experience in the making of tequila by means of a traditional process delivering full-bodied, high-quality spirits of refined flavor. Tequila Siete Leguas is steeped in heritage and tradition, and consists of a Blanco, a Reposado, an Añejo and a D'Antaño, all made of 100% Tequilana Weber Agave. The D'Antaño is aged up to five years. This tequila carries the name of Pancho Villa's famous horse.

History: The Tequila Siete Leguas distillery was responsible for producing the "original" Patron Tequila brand, and brand rights were sold to St. Maarten Spirits, owners John Paul DeJoria (Paul Mitchell Hair Products) and Martin Crowley in 1989. As the brand grew, Tequila Siete Leguas was no longer able to keep up with production, and Patron built a new distillery and moved all production in 2002.

One of the few tequilas I go back to.
Looks crystal clear white, leaves long legs around my snifter glass, tear drops form throughout the pour.
Nose is pretty straightforward but enjoyable. Notes of agave and earthiness.
Taste develops nicely, agave, spice and sweetness begin to develop, minty flavors.
Finish is long, peppery, but never harsh, sweet and mineral.
Mouthfeel is medium to full, somewhat oily.
Overall this is a solid blanco tequila for sipping.

I have a bartender friend who drinks 7 Leguas on ice and calls it butter water. Which is apt. I find this to be one of the most drinkable blancos, with a full body and mellow richness that is, yes, almost buttery.

Tried this in a flight along with Milagro Select Blanco, Ocho 2009 Plata, and 1921 NOM 1079. First off I found the bottle to be a little cheap as it was twist off and there was no real way for me to tell if it was already opened or if I broke the seal.

Scent: Traditional agave smell, slight citrus like and orange rind.

Skinny legs

Taste: peppery, hot, slight vanilla, caramel, well rounded and integrated flavor.

Finish: long and pleasant, no burn

This is a good blanco that reminds me of old school flavor (I think of sol de mexico blanco as well) although it didnt knock me off my seat it seems like a good traditional tequila.

RIP TOMMY

The birth brand to Patron. They sell Patron to a hair stylist and continue making good tequila. Make money and continue with your passion...what sounds better than that?

Aroma: Earthy agave with a nice strong mint scent as well.
Initial Taste: Earthy with some pine needle notes. Interesting
Body: Nice medium & oily body. Coats the mouth well and there are TONS of flavors. Agave, earth, pine mint, pepper. Great flavors that work together well.
Finish: A great long finish with lingering flavors of agave, pepper and mint. A wonderful finish to a wonderful all-around tequila.

This is a great combination of flavors in a blanco. Even though there's lots of flavors, they compliment each other instead of battling. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to explore the complexities of sipping blancos. Well priced and great tasting. Sign me up...
