Sauza Tres Generaciones Tequila Anejo

After living in Mexico, this is one of the most commonly found premium tequilas. Restaurants and bars often place this on the same level as Don Julio, Chinaco and Herradura. My main gripe is that in both America and Mexico have an enormous pricing gap for this product. In Mexico I have seen it priced anywhere from 300 pesos (23 usd at the time) to 600 (46 usd at the time). In America, Trader Joes sells it for $35, while BevMo is currently selling it for around $60...

Nose: Probably the Most pleasant part of this experience. Sweet and Smokey
Initial Taste: Starts slow. Gets sweet with a touch of oak presence
Body: Here is when it becomes less remarkable. Oak turns into more spice and burn than most Anejos tend to have.
Finish: Medium length burn coupled with a touch of more oak.

All in all this is fairly unremarkable considering how steep the price and be. If you are looking for a tequila that has been around forever and actually has notoriety in Mexico, go with Don Julio Anejo, Chinaco Anejo or Cazadores Anejo.

I don't have anything very new to add. It is a reasonable sipping tequila. At $45 a bottle, I've been disappointed a great deal worse. Yes, there are better tequila's for the price, you just have to stumble around and find them.

I've enjoyed many good evenings with Three G's over the past several decades. This isn't an outstanding anejo, but it is a good one and far better than what most folks think of when they hear "tequila."

The nose is pleasant with definite agave and very slightly smokey. Initial taste is slightly sweet, with a little lemon. Body is smooth and a little oily. The finish has definite oak and citrus. Overall, a good tequila but without any real distinguishing characteristics. A decent pure agave anejo, and that's always a good thing. For the price, I usually go for something else, but I'd never consider this to be a bad choice.

This tequila is not given enough credit than it deserves. To my surprise, this was a very good Tequila for the price.

Aroma: Hints of caramel and Agave
Initial Taste: Somewhat bland; however, hints of sweet fruit creep up on you.
Finish: Very smooth, no bite, slight heat, overall very easy to sip
Price: Very affordable for a premium Tequila
Presentation: Leaves something to be desired...bottle looks like a rocky barrel, does not really stand out.

Overall, this was a very good tequila. Cannot sat it was the best I have ever had; however, it is way better than what I had expected. I would highly recommend trying out this tequila. It is cheap and very easy and enjoyable to drink.

Not a great tequila...not a horrible tequila. However, considering what can be had out there for the same price...this is tequila that you skip.

Aroma: Heavy wood scents along with caramel and alcohol.
Initial Taste: Some sweetness, but a little bitterness and oak are present as well.
Body: Medium body. Wood dominates the body of this tequila.
Finish: Wood, some spice and a hint of anise on the finish. More "burn" than I would care to have in an anejo.

Sauza is a brand that everyone knows. That's the only conceivable reason that I can see someone spending $35-40 on this tequila instead of the numerous other ones out there.
