I am impressed. Don't even know where to start with this one...I suppose I should begin with how the bartender quoted me $25 for a shot but was quickly corrected by the other bartender: "No, that one is $50 per shot." After I expressed disinterest, they agreed to do $25 per shot and I said bring it on! I had seen this bottle at a local Mexican restaurant for the last 3-4 years, not a popular mover due to price. My pour was to the top of a big shot glass. Initial nose was as-expected: very much like a fine Bordeaux wine; sweet smelling but with a nice presence of distilled spirits. No agave on the nose that I could find. Sipping yielded a very elegant texture (think port) delivering a sweet complexity on the front of the pallet: raisins, vanilla, and very light citrus. The agave made its presence on the sides and back of the tongue, but it went very well with the sweetness; nothing too overpowering and certainly no burn or bitter bite. I think this stuff was smoother than anything I've ever tried; I would liken it to a high-end Cognac. The finish is complex and full, fading just in time to invite the next taste which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. The price is high, but for special occasions it's very comparable to high-end Scotch, Cognac, etc... and I think it just might be better. Don't hesitate on this one. Try it.

This tequila is just amazing. It's not an easy bottle to open due to the packaging, but once you open the bottle, it's pure heaven. It's sweet, ridiculously smooth, and full of fruity flavors. This is pretty much on par with Clase Azul Anejo. If money is no object, you won't be disappointed.

Personally, I'd go with the Clase Azul because it's a little cheaper and I love their bottles.

I've been on a mission to find a similar tequila in the $200-$300 range and have just failed. Its a shame this is so expensive. I'd buy this all the time if it was a cheaper.

I received as a gift last evening. We didn't see the "special" corkscrew and used thumb pressure to remove the original think cork. Gran Patron is very rich, smooth and tastes as expensive as it is. I'm not sure I would purchase, but it is a very special sipping tequila for very special occasions. After reading the enclosed "instructions," we were surprised that the "special" "crystal bee stopper" is very loose in our bottle. We did not remove the polypropylene (?) protector on the enclosed stopper. Have others observed a very loose fit form the stopper? Is our stopper defective? Seems like a serious lack of quality control or a design defect for such expensive packaging.

Tried this tequila in a flight of high end anejos. From the first sip I was impressed and was a little surprised when I reconfirmed that it was the Patron. Patron is always my stand by tequila as it's everywhere (too common for some people) but you always know what you are getting. Really enjoyed the full bodied smooth taste of the Burdeos and had to purchase a bottle. Price point is high but I save to for special occasions. I have tasted better tequilas but needed to add this to my tequila shelf and the bottle is a spectacular.
