I really like the blanco, but did not care for the repo and the direction it was heading, but I'll keep an open mind for the anejo.
The nose is not very pleasant IMO. I get mostly vinegar and sourness in general. I don't mind a bit of olive or brine in my tequila, but this does not hit that mark for me. I do get some semblance of oak, but it's kind of like rotten or fungus infested oak. I can detect *some* cooked agave in the background.
The taste is better than the nose. There is more agave coming through for me, with some spice added. There is still bitterness and slight vinegar, but much less of it. I detect an oak presence, but it is atypical - not sure if there is something different about their barrels and how they use or prepare them, but it's just a bit off for me. The body has a medium weight - a little light for an anejo.
The finish is pretty balanced, but not exceptional in any way. The strange oak taste continues, but I do admit that the finish becomes a little better as you drink more.
The nose kind of kills this from the beginning for me, although the taste and finish are better than the nose. Again, I like the blanco quite a bit, so this is just an example of good unaged juice getting tweaked the wrong way during the aging process. I like the look of the bottle, although it might be difficult to grip around the middle one-handed for small hands.
